Michelle & James

There’s No Place Like Home

Michelle and James had a whimsical vision for their wedding day, and it was beyond enjoyable bringing their dream to life!  Michelle has always had a special place in her heart for all things Wizard of Oz, and nearly every element of their celebration included a subtle nod to Mervyn LeRoy's beloved film of the late 1930s.  From the hot air balloon-inspired escort cards and hanging lanterns, to emerald jewels and an emerald-marbled cake, guests almost felt as if they'd taken a step into the magical land of Oz themselves.  Michelle's gown was reminiscent of Glinda the Good Witch of the North, and Michelle's ruby red slippers reminded us all there's no place like home.  Not only was I honored with planning Michelle and Jame's wedding day, but I was also privileged to create all of their flower arrangements for their wedding weekend. Despite unwelcomed guest Hurricane Florence making an appearance in the days leading up to their wedding - think impending natural disaster like the tornado carrying Dorothy from Kansas City to Oz! - the weather settled and cleared just in time for Michelle and James' wedding day.  Their ceremony took place in the charming courtyard at the Arts Club of Washington, D.C., after which guests moved inside for cocktail hour, surrounded by the club's permanent collection of art and sculpture.  Wedding guests dined al fresco under the stars before dancing the night away.  Amanda Adams Photography captured so perfectly their wedding day, and it was truly an honor to play a part in their biggest day ever!
